Senior Sous Chef

The Rectory is an award winning boutique restaurant & hotel in the Cotswold village of Crudwell, near Malmesbury, with a sister gastro-pub, The Potting Shed, just across the road.

We cook excellent and exciting modern European food, in tune with both the seasons and the locale. Produce is key; we have a fantastic kitchen garden producing vegetables, salads, berries & fruits. We forage some ingredients ourselves. We have a strong focus on local and regional suppliers for our meat & game, and our fish is delivered daily from Cornwall. Our menu changes when the produce and seasons demand.

We have an excellent kitchen team, run by head chef Jake Simpson, and are recruiting for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior sous chef to join us, and help drive things forward.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role (previous sous chef experience a must), be interested in producing great food from the ground up (from in-house butchery to home-made breads), and be keen to be part of a friendly, passionate and experienced team.

The role involves supporting and assisting the head chef in running the kitchen - first and foremost, you will help to lead the kitchen in producing exceptional food. In addition, you will assist in ensuring excellent stock rotation, cleaning and hygiene practices, in training and motivating junior members of staff, and in meeting GP targets. You will also directly run the kitchen in the absence of the head chef.

The role is full-time and salaried for 48 hours per week, over 5 days.

A salary of £40000-£45000 is available (DOE), along with a share of service charge (upwards of £2000 p/a)

Owing to the location of the business, a valid driving licence and car are necessary.
