Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a longstanding client based in Manchester, close enough to be considered city centre and with free parking! We are looking to appoint a commercially focused Management Accountant, which is a key role in their finance team. The business entities you’d be looking after are growing and this will be an exciting business to develop in.  We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant who's on their final level ACCA/CIMA to lead the production of the management accounts for two entities within the group and who will also look after the management and mentorship of 1 junior staff member. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop in a growing business, become qualified and really boost the experience on your CV.Salary and Benefits:Salary of £40-45,000 DOE, hybrid working 4 days in the office, study support, 25 days holidays plus banks, 5% pension, collaborative work space in the heart of the city centre with fantastic tram/train/bus links, social events.Key responsibilities:
  • Manage and assist with the development of one Accounts Assistant, ensuring their work is complete and accurate.
  • Take full responsibility for the monthly management accounts for 2 business entities within the group including P&L with commentary and variance analysis.
  • Prepare the monthly board pack, including performance analysis for the use by the Directors and SLT.
  • Re-forecasting against original budget with supporting commentary.
  • Balance sheet and cash-flow reconciliations.
  • Fixed Asset register.
  • Accrual and prepayment journals.
  • Payroll calculations and journals.
  • Oversee the weekly payment runs and ensure overdue debt is within target range.
  • Debtor, creditor, cash, inter-company, VAT and stock reconciliations.
  • Quarterly VAT return and monthly CIS return.
  • Control all overhead spends with robust purchasing controls.
  • Reporting to support with key business decisions, including dashboards across the business to aid with KPI reporting.
  • Attend regular meetings with various departments to understand progress on monthly revenue forecasts and job cost management and completion to ensure targets are met.
  • Assist with the annual audit process.
  • Ad-hoc finance duties as required.
Professional qualification and competencies:
  • Active ACCA/CIMA student on their final level and looking to complete to become qualified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and vlookups.
  • Experience with Sage would be beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and achieve tight deadlines working in a high pressure environment
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles, gained through experience or qualifications
  • Able to work effectively as part of a high-performing team
