Job title: Design Manager
Location: Manchester
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Design Manager an award winning construction company who have a turnover in excess of 200m. They work on prestigious projects valued between 10m - 50m in the residential, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and public sectors.
They have been established for over 50 years and due to their success and growth across the business they are now looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their team in Manchester.
The role - Design Manager
As a Design Manager you will be working within an established team and will be based on a 25m high rise residential project in Manchester. You will be reporting into the Senior Design Manager and Project Director and will be responsible for the following duties (Including but not limited to):
- Monitor and advise on the procurement of specialist design input in accordance with the Design Programme.
- Assist in the commercial and technical review of specialist subcontract tender returns.
- Monitor and advise on the progress and production of design documentation in accordance with the agreed Design Programme.
- Monitor the flow of shared and published design documentation.
- Undertake elemental coordination and technical compliance checks on specialist subcontractor design documentation.
- Undertake design performance reviews for all specialist design specifications
- Liaising with the Commercial team, lead the development and implementation of design proposals, data, bid deliverables and reports within both the constraints of the contract (inclusive of BIM requirements) and internal commercial objectives
Required experience:
- Five years' experience as a Design Manager, working on commercial/high-rise/industrial/mix-use sectors
- Relevant industry qualification
- An understanding of the construction process from pre-construction/tender stages through to handover
- Excellent understanding of BREEAM and Value Engineering principles
- Working knowledge of BIM requirements
- The ability to develop strong personal relationships with clients/consultants and staff
