My client are a Manchester based housing and property developer predominantly operating in the build to rent sector. They pride themselves on delivering high quality, sustainable communities across the North West.

They are now recruiting for an Estimating Manager/Pre-Construction Manager to join their business.

Duties and responsibilities to include:

  • Management of commercial responsibilities during pre-construction
  • Management of cost planning and estimating projects which can range from small value schemes to large developments
  • The writing and management of legal appointments for consultants
  • The management of the procurement process in the appointment of a main contractor
  • Lead negotiations with main contractors on commercial and legal matters
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful procurement of each project
  • Provide leadership and problem solving to complicated and challenging projects
  • Establish value engineering or change control procedures should this be necessary
  • The capability of fulfilling the main tasks of a Senior Quantity Surveyor role if necessary
  • Comply with Company rules, policies and procedures at all times.
  • Travel throughout the North West and other regions as necessary

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge and experience of forms of building contract
  • Good knowledge and experience of current legislation
  • Appropriate IT skills including the use of company software packages
  • High level communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to motivate and influence people
  • Time management skills
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Confident oral and written communication skills
  • Financial and commercial awareness
