About the role

Joining our Second Line Risk team, you will report to the Head of Risk and will actively support in maintaining an appropriate and effective approach to Risk Management frameworks, methodologies and practices. Working in a small team you will have a real opportunity to shine and work alongside a wide range of stakeholders in a business that is continually growing.



Responsibilities:

As a Risk Manager, you will develop your own objectives, but we are looking for you to focus on the following and more:

  • Consistent implementation and embedding of the Group Risk Management Framework within functional areas of the business.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate engaging risk conversations through quarterly risk and control assessments, providing adequate support, oversight & challenge.
  • Support SMF Managers and Risk Owners to assess the effectiveness of their control environments and associated action plans to address areas of weaknesses.
  • Prepare, draft and collate papers for quarterly Group and Division risk meetings, challenging the information as necessary to ensure accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate training across the business, promoting a strong culture of risk awareness and knowledge.
  • Undertake root cause, gap analysis and deep dives, providing insights to the business identifying areas of improvements or opportunities.


Preferred Skills, Attributes and Experience:

Must Have:

  • Experience in a risk focussed role in Financial Services
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk frameworks, methodologies and practices.
  • Relevant qualification or business partnering experience.
  • Effective at working autonomously and to tight deadlines.

Desirable

  • Insurance / Broking background
  • Excellent communicator and influencer (verbal & written) with an eye for detail.
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
  • Can commute to the Manchester office (1-2 days a week)
