We are seeking a proactive Business Development Coordinator to lead and deliver our work-related employability strategy and action plan within a Further Education Establishment. This role is pivotal in supporting vocational reform and the rollout of T Levels, engaging employers to support industry placements effectively.Day-to-day of the role:

  • Fully embed and deliver the employability strategy within the department, coordinating and implementing employability activities to meet learner and departmental needs.
  • Achieve ambitious KPIs, including a 100% target for work experience at Level 2 and Level 3, and growth targets for industry placements.
  • Monitor progress against KPIs and departmental targets, improving uptake of industry placements and work experience in collaboration with curriculum departments.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership to discuss progress and address any issues.
  • Represent the college at employer events, networks, and meetings, promoting employability skills valued by employers.
  • Manage and report on learner participation in work experience activities using systems like Pro-Monitor and Connect, ensuring compliance with all guiding principles, including risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships to manage, grow, and enhance employer engagement, creating new partnerships and maintaining existing ones.
  • Prepare and coach learners for placements, ensuring they meet their action plans and learning objectives, and maintain regular contact with learners and employers to ensure participation and progress.
  • Visit and mentor learners in the workplace to monitor their progress, setting, attendance, and attitude, completing all necessary paperwork and reporting for effective industry placements.
  • Assist learners in developing employability skills, such as CV writing, interview preparation, and application form completion.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Required to have an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service to be considered for the role. (or have completed an enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months)
  • Demonstrable experience in business development, preferably within an educational or vocational training context.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage KPIs and meet targets.
  • Experience in employer engagement and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Ability to coach and mentor individuals, preparing them for the workforce.
  • Proficiency in using educational and employment systems like Pro-Monitor and Connect.
