Job Title: Relationship DirectorRole Overview

The Relationship Director will play a strategic role in managing and expanding relationships managing 4 direct reports and upto 15 indirect reports leading area activities. This senior position requires a proactive leader to drive business development, enhance partnerships, and ensure seamless execution of banking activities while maintaining strong risk and compliance oversight. The role involves high-level engagement with SMEs, Commercial, Corporates and Trade expanding relationships / networks through business development activities.

Key Responsibilities.
  • Strategic Relationship Management

    • Develop, maintain, and expand high-value relationships with commercial and corporates driving business.
    • Lead engagement with key partners, negotiating and structuring trade finance solutions to drive business growth.
    • Identify new opportunities for collaboration with corporates and commercial clients to enhance trade finance flows and strengthen strategic alliances.
    • Represent the bank at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to build market presence and deepen relationships.
  • Business Development & Revenue Growth

    • Drive the development and marketing of trade finance products, working closely with corporate relationship managers and product teams.
    • Identify and execute opportunities to increase trade finance volumes, optimize pricing strategies, and expand revenue streams.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to cross-sell a full suite of commercial banking products to FI clients.
    • Enhance correspondent banking relationships, ensuring strong engagement and optimal trade finance routing.
  • Risk, Compliance & Governance

    • Lead the due diligence process for onboarding ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.
    • Oversee compliance checks on counterparties and ensure effective risk management in trade finance transactions.
    • Monitor and manage bank and country credit limits, working closely with credit risk and compliance teams.
    • Ensure adherence to AML, KYC, and regulatory policies in all FI transactions and engagements.
  • Operational & Strategic Leadership

    • Provide senior oversight of activities, ensuring alignment with the bank’s trade finance strategy and risk appetite.
    • Work closely with trade operations, credit, legal, and risk teams to facilitate seamless execution of trade finance transactions.
    • Support the Head of in strategic initiatives, including correspondent banking, Vostro/Nostro account management, and limit approvals.
    • Lead internal reporting, including MI creation on trade finance flows, performance, and market trends.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven track record in a senior relationship management role leading Senior front line staff and their wider teams.
  • Strong expertise in leading, structuring and managing solutions, including LCs, guarantees, and forfaiting.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify business opportunities and drive revenue growth in FI and trade finance.
  • Established industry network with SME, Commercials, Corporates.
  • You will have managed Senior Relationship Managers and their teams in the past.

Type - Some flex but mostly full time onsite or rotating around branches.

Compensation - Upto £95,000 max basic plus full package ontop
