A leading construction and design consultancy is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Designer to join their dynamic North West team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and public works, working with a forward-thinking team committed to safety, innovation, and compliance.

The Principal Designer Role

The successful Principal Designer will play a pivotal role in managing the pre-construction phase, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and mitigating risks throughout the design process. You will collaborate with design teams, clients, and contractors to develop comprehensive pre-construction information, conduct risk assessments, and oversee the preparation of construction phase plans.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading the Principal Designer function on a variety of projects.
  • Collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure health and safety standards are integrated into the design process.
  • Assisting with the development of design risk registers and providing expert guidance on CDM compliance.
  • Liaising with clients to ensure their duties under CDM 2015 regulations are fully understood and fulfilled.

To be considered for this Principal Designer position, you will need

  • Proven experience in a Principal Designer role, with a background in construction, architecture, or engineering.
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
  • Membership with a professional body such as IOSH or APS.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
