Head of Payroll | Manchester | £80-90k + Bonus

Exciting opportunity for an experience Head of Payroll to join a leading media and entertainment business with a great culture opportunity for progression.

My client is a household name within the entertainment industry. They are looking to expand their leading finance function by adding a Head of Payroll to the team. This is a fantastic role for an experience Payroll professional who have a minimum of 8+ years experience and has managed large teams.

The Role

The Head of Payroll will be responsible for the management of the Payroll team and driving process improvements. In this role, you will take on a reviewer role and ensure that the payroll is completed accurately and in a timely manner. You will work closely with the Director of Finance to advise on payroll legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 15 finance professionals and support their day-to-day operations
  • Develop and train the team to enable them to reach their full potential
  • Implement and monitor controls and procedures related to all areas of payroll and reporting
  • Manage the month-end close ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the required activities
  • Oversee the monthly payroll process for all employees globally
  • Serve as a point of escalation and approval
  • Prepare the quarterly and annual reporting
  • Assist the Finance Director in setting strategy for payroll and responsible for the strategic direction, cost effectiveness and service quality of the payroll function
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the senior leadership team

Your Background

You are an experienced Payroll professional with 8+ years experience (minimum 4+ years managing a team) within a large complex organisation. You must also have experience managing a team of at least 10 people and lead large scale process improvement projects.

Please note, my client will only consider candidates who have a formal payroll qualification.

You will regularly interact with senior management, meaning that stakeholder management skills and an affable personality are a must. This role requires a strong performer and somebody with the ambition and intellect to apply their own insights were possible and suggest improvements to existing processes.

Based in Manchester with work from home flexibility.
