People & Organisational Senior Consultant

Contract type: Permanent

Altum Consulting are partnering with a distinctive and established British business who is looking to expand their already successful People and Organisation consulting practice.

Headquartered in London, with offices across the UK, our client is uniquely placed in the market and globally recognised. The consultant can be based in Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh or Newcastle and is focused on applying in-depth knowledge and specialist skills in the delivery of a range of client projects across some or all of the following technical areas: Operating Model, Organisation Design & Governance, Culture, Transformation & Change, Leadership, Talent & Capability as well as team leadership and direction.

Key responsibilities

  • Provides strategic direction to the team by understanding and making clear connections with other workstreams and broader goals of the project and team
  • Leads complex teams/ function areas by explicitly setting standards, defining quality, providing technical and people management support to team members
  • Leads project planning and scoping by outlining full projects/activities and resources required, e.g. time, people and skills
  • Leads a team of consultants in the development and delivery of end-end transformational programmes
  • Contributes to project economics by demonstrating good commercial discipline and leading to ensure the project commercially delivers against the business plan
  • Liaises closely with key client stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of set project outcomes
  • Contributes to business development, including identifying work opportunities in existing client relationships, developing compelling and winning proposals and pitch documents
  • Draws on relevant theories, evidence-based practice to lead the design and delivery of organisational diagnostics workshops
  • Reviews, analyses and reports on client's organisational behaviour and cultural landscape
  • Applies knowledge of organisational change theories and practices to make recommendations to client challenges
  • Contributes to the development of methodologies, tools, thought leadership papers and the People & Organisation community of practice and Operations Consulting skills network

Education and experience

  • Typically, a first degree and/or extensive experience in people and change consulting and/or a Master's degree in the behavioural or management sciences field, e.g. occupational psychology, organisational behaviour, organisational design, MBA
  • Typically, 6+ years of experience in a consulting or in-house environment

Key capabilities

  • Experience in operating model & organisation development, culture & organisational change capability
  • Team leadership and direction setting
  • Strong commercial acumen, experience and willingness to support new business development
  • Capability in developing business proposals for clients, by understanding client requirements and drawing together expertise from across a multi-disciplinary firm
  • Project management and delivery skills, including financial and risk management
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to help shape and deliver the best solution
  • Ability to demonstrate a methodological and creative approach to decision-making even in an ambiguous environment
  • A collaborative style of working that fosters innovation and team working

Desired:

  • Experience in organisational readiness (research methodologies, job analysis, selection and assessment, training needs analysis, training design and delivery, project management)
  • Experience in one or more of the following markets: Manufacturing, Rail, Highways, Energy, Aviation and/or Water
