Manchester City Council are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join a well-structured and dynamic Learning Disability team. The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension.

Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist includes.

  • Assessment experience of working with people with disabilities/vulnerable people.
  • Assessing the level of care provided to LD citizens in supported living, or those who will be moving into supported living.
  • Good understanding of managing challenging behaviours including sensory and environmental interventions, moving and handling techniques, equipment/adaptations, and assistive technology to enhance the citizen's independence, and optimise the level of care received.
  • Provide assessment to support citizens to move in or out of supported living dependant on the complexity of their needs, and suitability of accommodation.
  • The role will be sat within the Principal Occupational Therapy Team, and report to the Moving and Handling Optimisation Team Manager (OT). The OT will work closely with the Social Work LD team, and Health LD therapists.

To Be Successful.

  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the community.
  • The candidate must have experience in training carers/families
  • Experienced Adult Social Care OT required with minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Must have well developed knowledge of LD, autism and managing challenging behaviours
  • Must have experience of moving and handling including undertaking risk assessments, and providing training to carers.ble to hit the ground running and doesn't need upskilling.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Occupational Therapist Qualification
  • Car driver is essential.
