We are recruiting for a role within an in patient mental health service for young people and adults. The focus of the service is to help people to live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.

PICU services have been designed to support people in a severe phase of their condition, who cannot be managed in acute services. The dedicated PICU services place this client at the forefront of specialised intensive care, and highly trained teams can support people with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge, along with co-existing issues (such as substance misuse)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Occupational Therapist to join the team.

The Occupational Therapist will provide assistance to professional and clinical staff with the planning, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic activities in order to improve mental, emotional well-being and quality of life for all patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and co-ordinate the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
  • Receives and responds promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. Maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation / progress.
  • Ensures the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
  • Maintains and develops close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards.
  • Contributes to business growth by actively promoting priory therapy services in line with the local units’ business plan.
  • Maintains effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers, and purchasers throughout the patient’s rehabilitation.
  • Leads on implementation of new services within own site, sharing best practice with other sites in the area.
  • Ensures the services and support provide offers good value for money and supports the overall aim of the site.

Required:

  • BSc Hons or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and accreditation by the HCPC
  • Suitable applicants should have a minimum of one year's experience gained within a related clinical or therapeutic environment.
  • It is desirable that the post-holder will have experience managing a caseload of service users with complex needs.
