About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a thriving primary school in Blackley, Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with special educational needs (SEN), helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for children with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other additional needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning activities.

  • Support children with their social, emotional, and academic development.

  • Use a range of communication strategies, such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables, to assist pupils with their learning.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support each child's development.

  • Help to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring pupils feel safe and valued.

  • Provide personal care when required (e.g., toileting support, feeding assistance).



Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role, preferably within an SEN setting.

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

  • Experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, or other additional needs is highly beneficial.

  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to working with children.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
