Functional Skills Teacher required

Salary/ Rate: £110-£160 per day depending on experience

Exclusive Education are looking to appoint a Functional Needs Teacher to work in a Special Educational Needs school in the North West. The role will start as soon as possible until the end of the summer term. They are looking for a teacher to take over the class and demonstrate outstanding teaching. Working in a friendly, lively and vibrant school. Previous experience of working as a Functional Skills Teacher would be required. The role will involve teaching a group of 6 students the following sessions:

  • Functional maths and English (2 x 1/2 day sessions)
  • OCR Life and Living Skills course- independent living and work skills sessions (4 x 1/2 day sessions)
  • PSHE/ careers session (1x1/2 day session)
  • Creative curriculum session
  • Sport and leisure session

The candidate must also have experience of:

  • Working with SEN students working at pre-entry / Entry 1 level
  • Vocational qualification- OCR Life and Living Skills
  • ASD and strategies to support
  • Understanding of challenging behaviour and how it is managed
  • Working with students aged 16-19 years old

In order to be considered for this role we require you meet the following criteria;

  • Hold a relevant teaching qualification with QTS, such as a PGCE, B.Ed. or a BA Hons
  • Have eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
  • Have previous experience of working with children and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with behavioural difficulties
  • Have good knowledge of the full curriculum
  • Previous KS3 and KS4 teaching experience
  • Two references working with children covering the last 2 years
  • Hold a current DBS that is registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
