We are working with a leading organisation in search of a Business Development Manager to enhance their sales team. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a proven track record in generating new business and a strong desire to drive sales success. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, and engagement with potential clients to expand the company’s client base across the UK.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Visiting potential clients to secure new business opportunities.
  • Efficient route planning for client visits to maximise productivity.
  • Creating detailed visit and monthly sales reports, managing sales forecasts.
  • Attending and contributing to monthly sales meetings.
  • Leveraging trade press, exhibitions, and networking events to generate leads.
  • Collaborating with the sales team to nurture leads into established accounts.
  • Representing the company at industry events to enhance brand presence.
  • Negotiating contracts, preparing documentation, and managing the progression to initial orders.
  • Researching and analysing target sectors for new business opportunities.
  • Identifying PR and social media opportunities to increase brand awareness.
  • Maintaining accurate customer information within the CRM system.
  • Encouraging site visits to showcase company processes and capabilities.
  • Regular engagement with production operations to stay informed on manufacturing processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ commercial experience in a business development or sales role.
  • FMCG background
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with customers in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Strong business acumen and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Desirable: Experience within a manufacturing setting and/or glass industry.
  • GCSE/O Level English & Maths with proficient numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Desirable: Higher education in Business Studies or a related field.
  • PC literacy and experience with CRM systems.
