Middlesbrough Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Fostering Retention/Connected Carers Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting and retaining foster carers and connected carers, ensuring children and young people in our care receive the best possible support.

About the Role:

As part of the Fostering Retention/Connected Carers Team, you will work directly with foster carers, connected carers, and the children in their care. Your role will focus on providing ongoing support, supervision, and guidance to foster families, ensuring the stability and success of placements. You will also help build relationships that promote the wellbeing of children and carers, ensuring all parties feel valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and supervision to foster carers and connected carers, ensuring they have the guidance and resources needed to care for children.
  • Help foster carers navigate challenges and resolve issues, ensuring the success of placements and the retention of carers.
  • Work closely with children, their families, and their carers to ensure that care plans are followed and children's needs are met.
  • Contribute to training and development programs to empower carers with the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and multi-agency professionals to safeguard children in care and support the wider fostering and connected carers community.

Benefits:

  • 15% Extra Remuneration Package - paid monthly.
  • Relocation Package - up to £8,000 to help you settle in Middlesbrough.
  • Hybrid Working - offering flexibility where service requirements allow.
  • Generous Annual Leave - starting from 26 days and rising to 31 days after 5 years' service, plus paid bank holidays (combined value of almost £6,000).
  • Pension Scheme - employer contributions of 11.5%, equivalent to over £5,000 annually.
  • Death in Service - a sum of 3.5 times your annual salary.
  • Sick Pay - up to 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay, providing financial assurance during difficult times.
  • Family-Friendly Policies - including discretionary leave and flexible working arrangements.
  • Additional Benefits - salary sacrifice schemes for electric cars and bikes, and discounts at high street stores.
  • Professional Development - full support for your career growth, including training and learning opportunities.

Who We're Looking For:

  • A qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in fostering or children's social care, with a commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and families.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills to support foster and connected carers effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals, carers, and families to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • A compassionate and dedicated individual, eager to make a real difference in the lives of children and the fostering community.

Join Middlesbrough Council and be part of a team that supports and values foster carers, connected carers, and the children in their care.
Middlesbrough are committed to providing our staff with the resources, benefits, and development opportunities they need to thrive.
