Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our clients team near Milton Keynes. They operate within the commercial, healthcare, leisure and education sectors throughout the South East providing refurbishment and fit-out solutions for end-users and clients from 100k to 3m.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning and budgeting phases of projects, ensuring that all costs are accurately calculated and controlled. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control principles, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects based on specifications and drawings.
- Analyse project requirements and assess potential risks to ensure accurate budgeting.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and labour costs.
- Review and adjust estimates based on changes in project scope or specifications.
- Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid documents and presenting estimates to clients.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Experience
- Proven experience in estimating within the construction sectors
- Strong knowledge of cost control methodologies and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools is advantageous, but not essential.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A relevant degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
