Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to manage their daily financial operations. This role requires hands-on financial management, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while supporting strategic business decisions. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and senior management and play a key role in financial planning, reporting, and control.

What you'll do:

As a Financial Controller for our client, you will be at the heart of their financial operations. Your role will involve managing daily accounting tasks, preparing monthly financial statements, coordinating budgetary processes, developing internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulations, liaising during audits, analysing financial data for insights, leading the finance team, collaborating with other departments for operational efficiency. You will also be responsible for investigating system developments to ensure the integrity of financial data.

  • Overseeing daily accounting functions such as billing, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger maintenance, cost accounting, inventory records, and revenue recognition.
  • Preparing accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Coordinating and directing budgetary processes and financial forecasts to align with the organisation's strategic goals.
  • Developing and implementing robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Ensuring adherence to statutory laws and financial regulations, and acting as the primary contact during audits.
  • Analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction and business growth.
  • Leading and mentoring the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Working closely with the purchasing department, sales team, and stock controllers to ensure financial alignment and support operational efficiency.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller position brings a wealth of experience in managing accounting operations. You have strong knowledge of budgeting processes and financial forecasting, and you have developed internal control policies in previous roles. Your understanding of statutory laws and financial regulations is robust, and you are adept at analysing complex financial data. You have experience leading a finance team and are known for your excellent collaboration skills.

  • Professional certifications such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) are highly desirable but qualified by experience would be considered.
  • Proven experience in managing accounting operations.
