We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join an expanding team in the heart of Milton Keynes. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing business where your skills will play a key role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly.

As our new Accounts Assistant, you’ll report directly to the Finance Manager and take responsibility for key finance processes across purchase ledger, payroll, bank transactions, and year-end audit support. You’ll be a proactive, process-driven individual who’s confident working with numbers and enjoys problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the purchase ledger - process weekly/monthly invoices.
  • Resolve discrepancies and ensure prompt payment.
  • Respond to enquiries and prepare payment runs.
  • Reconcile purchase ledger accounts and follow up on overpayments.
  • Process and authorise third-party supplier invoices
  • Manage a small monthly salaried payroll
  • Handle payroll queries and reconcile data with the HMRC gateway.
  • Bank Reconciliation and posting daily payments accurately, maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Assist auditors with data requests and act as a point of contact for transactional details.

The Candidate:

  • Qualified by experience.
  • Strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, pivot tables).
  • Clear communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Previous experience improving finance processes or reports.
