About the Role:We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join our team for day-to-day supply work across schools in Milton Keynes. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with additional needs and who can bring flexibility, patience, and enthusiasm to a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the educational, social, and emotional development of pupils with special educational needs, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities, adapting resources to meet each child’s individual needs.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, using differentiated strategies to help them access the curriculum.
- Monitor and record pupils' progress and well-being, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO as required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment, encouraging pupils to build independence and confidence.
- Provide support with personal care or mobility needs for pupils, if required.
- Maintain a high level of safeguarding awareness and ensure the safety of all pupils in line with the school’s safeguarding policies.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children with special educational needs in a school, care, or similar setting.
- Familiarity with a range of SEN conditions, including autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and speech and language difficulties.
- A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and pupil needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents.
- An up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Relevant qualifications in education or SEN (desirable but not essential).
