£37.57 – 2 year initial contract

A challenging opportunity has arisen at Glascoed for a Chemical Engineer working within a multi-disciplined team involved in the design, development, and implementation of a new chemical engineering product.

The role is responsible for leading delegated work packages of novel chemical engineering product from concept through to commissioning. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a capability in developing chemical engineering processes including system integration.

The successful applicant will lead their delegated work packages in deploying those processes in a high hazard environment, therefore knowledge and experience of working in a high hazard environment will be advantageous, or similar experience from a neighbouring sector.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the development and implementation of novel chemical engineering products, ensuring they are robust, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements.
• Lead on work packages to ensure effective scale-up from laboratory to production scale products.
• Develop and ensure accuracy of detailed calculations, process engineering datasheets, and drawings.
• Lead on delegated work packages and contribute to process engineering designs, including: process flow diagrams, detailed heat and mass balances, process descriptions, equipment specifications and data sheets, P&ID development, pressure relief calculations, and process safety reviews.
• Creation of technical specifications and requirements for process equipment.
• Participate in process hazard assessments and other technical risk assessments (e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, and Hazardous Area Classification).
• Ensure regulatory compliance is achieved for a number of key safety and legislative indicators.
• Liaise with other business functions to ensure that a robust supply chain is established that is able to support business demands.

Your competencies, skills and qualifications
Essential:
• Degree qualified Chemical Engineer (BEng/MEng) with experience in design and operation.
• Experience in chemical process design through the entire project lifecycle.
• Experienced with concept, basic, and detailed design of a chemical plant.
• Experience of process hazard assessments and other technical risk assessments (including HAZOP, LOPA, and Hazardous Area Classification).
