Principal Civil & Structural Engineer
Contract: Long-term
Location: Sellafield (4 days/week) & Remote (1 day/week)

Our client has a requirement for a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis at the Client’s Site Sellafield.
Role Purpose:
The Principal Civil & Structural Engineer will report to the Area Lead Engineer and the Engineering Manager, providing engineering support to the project. This role involves managing Civil & Structural workload, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with design intent during construction.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage Civil & Structural engineering workload to budget and programme requirements.
- Provide Civil & Structural engineering support to construction and commissioning activities.
- Maintain strong relationships with design, construction, and client teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
- Respond to technical queries, product permits, concessions, and non-conformances.
- Interface daily with construction personnel, ensuring engineering design intent is met.
- Produce and check structural calculations (steelwork, concrete, and masonry), technical reports, and site modifications.
- Review contractor method statements, inspection plans, and other documentation.
- Participate in walkdowns, meetings, and technical reviews as required.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Degree qualified, preferably Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE).
- IOSH Working or Managing Safely (or equivalent).
- Nuclear industry experience preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and Designer responsibilities.
