Our client is a highly respected financial services organisation (Mortgage & Savings) and owing to a restructure, are recruiting for an Interim Financial Controller whilst they recruit on a Permanent basis. You must be immediately available and able to travel to their Head Office in the East Midlands twice a week (Monday & Tuesdays generally).

Managing a team of 4 (2 direct reports), the core purpose of the role is to oversee the Financial Operations of the business (incl. treasury back office, accounts payable, payments and reconciliations) as well as evaluating and managing financial risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, completion of financial statements, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information, including tax (supported by third party).

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

  • To manage the complete month and year end reporting processes, liaising with external and internal audit
  • Management and control of the ALMIS system and Treasury back office
  • To have an overall understanding of the production of the regulatory returns and ability to sign off returns (in the absence of the FD)
  • To prepare financial and other reports for the Board/Board committees
  • To produce ICAAP and Recovery Plan (if required within the 6m period)
  • To oversee the FRS 102 reporting models, bad debt provision and hedge accounting.
  • To ensure readiness for compliance with FRS102 changes such as lease accounting changes.

Requirements of the Financial Controller:

  • Qualified Accountant with 5 years PQE
  • Experience within a PRA regulated financial services business is essential, preferably a mortgage lender
  • Strong Leadership of a team and direct reports
  • Knowledge of PRA regulation incl. ICAAP & ILAAP
  • ALMIS treasury system understanding
  • Excel and MI skills
