We are seeking a fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant to lead audits from planning to completion, playing a key role in the audit and assurance team. The successful candidate will also be required to prepare accounts and stay updated with the latest technical knowledge.

The role:

This audit and assurance team is the largest within the organisation, employing a substantial number of professionals, including several senior auditors. Although the team is based in the North-East, they cater to a diverse clientele across the UK, encompassing various sectors such as technology, public infrastructure, renewable energy, manufacturing, and professional services.

Their client portfolio includes both small businesses and large multinational companies. The team is known for its commitment to delivering top-notch service and technical expertise, fostering enduring client relationships through their dedicated approach.

Key Duties:

  • Produce a detailed audit planning memorandum and discuss with Partner/Director/Senior Manager.
  • Complete audits in accordance with the firm's audit procedures, with assistance from more senior staff members.
  • Monitor job progress, ensure budgets are met, and address problems to finish audits within budget and timeframe.
  • Check and supervise the work of junior staff both on site and in the office, completing any necessary sections.
  • Sign off audit sections, address problems or queries, and complete the file for review by Partner/Director/Senior Manager.
  • Prepare accounts for larger cases in accordance with firm procedures and within budget.

You will have:

  • ACA or ACCA fully qualified with practice experience
  • Proven experience leading onsite audits from planning to completion
  • Excellent accounts preparation and audit completion skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and ideally CaseWare
  • Success in mentoring junior staff
  • Strong technical knowledge, especially FRS 102
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Client-focused and commercially aware
  • Team player with problem-solving abilities
