Our client is a highly successful technology business based in the Newcastle area, a healthy, growing, highly entrepreneurial organisation looking for an exceptional Chief Operations Officer to lead the operations of the business, collaborating with CEO, CFO and CTO in setting and driving the organisations vision and operations strategy - a lynch-pin and right-hand person to the CEO in achieving scale-up goals.

This is a great opportunity with lots of autonomy for a visionary and enthusiastic person, an effective leader and manager who can galvanise people and bridge the gap between vision and execution. Creating and delivering actionable plans, products and services you will ensure operational efficiency, effectiveness and scalability, optimising processes and implementing best practices, whether that’s ensuring seamless customer support, managing the supply chain or optimising software development processes.

Your responsibilities as Chief Operations Officer will include:

  • Collaborating with the CEO and SLT in setting and driving organisational vision, operations strategy and hiring levels
  • Translating strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing plans and organisation-wide goal setting, performance management and regular planning processes
  • Overseeing company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organisational goals are met
  • Ensuring effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention
  • Ensuring quality, efficiency and effectiveness in operational delivery
  • Analysing operations and identify areas for process enhancement
  • Actively managing investments and expenses to ensure that the company achieves targets for growth and profitability
  • Monitor performance and take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed updates and forecasts
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with customers, clients, partners and stakeholders

Required Chief Operations Officer skills and experience:

  • Recent solid and successful commercial experience gained in a similar leadership role - COO, Head of Operations, Senior Operations Manager or similar - ideally with a technology or tech-driven service company
  • Strong people, systems and process improvement focus - including advanced business planning, performance measurement and data analysis
  • Strong managerial and supervisory experience with first class interpersonal skills
  • Innovative mind-set, striving for excellence, keeping current with new technology and ways to improve
  • Experience creating and building world class development teams, managing and mentoring them
  • A collaborative, adaptable personality, passionate, self-motivated and interested in SME, scale-up and growth/rapid change
