As an Application Support IT Engineer, you'll support key business systems (Capita Housing, SUN Finance, SharePoint EDMS) and work with cloud technologies like Azure and Office365. You'll provide day-to-day support, use tools like PowerShell, and assist with IT projects, system development, integration, and cybersecurity. Collaboration with the IT team is key to delivering projects and driving IT strategy.

Description

  • Manage the technology infrastructure, including cloud and physical equipment, storage, wide area network (WAN) with internet connectivity, unified communications (fixed and mobile telephony), local area networks (wired and wireless), firewalls, security applications, operating systems, and email systems.
  • Maintain infrastructure by applying structured methods to address both routine and complex issues.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and issue analysis using the correct tools and techniques in accordance with company guidelines, while securing necessary logistical support.
  • Conduct trend analysis to ensure optimal infrastructure performance in line with capacity and demand, and suggest improvements for continuous optimization.
  • Ensure the infrastructure remains secure and adheres to Cyber Security best practices.
  • Configure cloud systems, managing capacity and optimizing usage.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure clear understanding of infrastructure developments and manage upgrades effectively, ensuring compliance with contracts.
  • Oversee user account management on systems like Active Directory, SharePoint, Teams, and Office 365.
  • Oversee technical projects within the ICT plan and provide IT support for other business projects requiring IT input.
  • Assist the Service Desk in resolving issues and ensure staff receive proper training, support, and guidance to address problems at the first point of contact.
  • Ensure infrastructure changes follow proper change control procedures and are fully tested and documented before implementation.
  • Help maintain IT Architecture documentation.
  • Contribute to expanding and maintaining the IT knowledge base and promote knowledge sharing across the IT department and the wider business.

Profile

  • Experienced in application support, vendor management, and project management
  • Strong foundation in application support with the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Exchange, and Progress 4GL
  • SQL knowledge is desirable
  • Working Locations: Workington, Carlisle, and Newcastle-candidates must be within a commutable distance and available to go into the office at least 1-2 days a week.
