Chef/Cook

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Chef/Cook to join our team. This role requires competence in all aspects of kitchen duties and the ability to produce a variety of menus, including catering for special dietary needs, while adhering to a budget.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare menus in line with the allocated food budget.
  • Cook and serve meals chosen by the Service Users, ensuring economical use of stock and maintaining quality.
  • Develop a four-weekly menu with the Head Chef, considering seasonal variations and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure safe food storage, conduct regular stock rotations, and check “use by” dates.
  • Maintain strict hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen, including regular temperature checks and equipment cleaning.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, assist with training, and participate in staff reviews.
  • Handle and record payments for staff meals in accordance with company policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Nursing Home environment is desirable.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of menus and cater to special dietary needs.
  • Strong understanding of budget management and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
  • High standard of personal hygiene and presentation.
