Here at Hays, we are working with a large wholesaler based in Normanton for the recruitment of a Buyer to join their Group Buying team. This is a permanent opportunity that will offer great development opportunities. This role is full-time and paying up to £32,000 per year, along with some brilliant benefits. The role offers hybrid working with 4 days required on site in Normanton. You will be required to travel to other group locations for meetings when appropriate, including national and international travel. A full UK driving licence is essential. As the Buyer you will be responsible for sourcing and managing products and suppliers for own label products and for any bids and tenders. The role will deliver continuous successful commercial negotiations that improve the overall performance of the business. The role will be supporting the wider product team by sourcing product and identifying new suppliers on an international basis. Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Engaging with suppliers and actively review product pricing and the marketplace.
  • Identification and development of long-term suppliers for existing and new products in accordance with the requirements of the business, utilising UK, European and International suppliers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best price, commercial terms and delivery of all products required.
  • Manage the full process of items being purchasing to ensure all data sets are completed correctly.
  • To support Product Managers to launch new own label products and ensure a close relationship with them including on contract requirements, pricing, MOQ and lead-times through to launch.
  • Prioritise workload ensuring all products are tendered on a timely basis and the supply base is investigated fully. Multiple tenders will be worked on simultaneously.
  • Build strong relationships and rapport with key personnel, interfacing at different levels with key supplier contacts. Ensure regular communication on progress and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience for this role:

  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate product pricing and supply chain.
  • Developed communication skills and a high level of professionalism to work with senior personnel and suppliers.
  • Experienced in developing strong supplier relationships.
  • Understanding of the full cost of sourcing decisions and the implications for commercial teams.
  • Ability to outline simple supply contracts and ensure all the companies' terms and conditions are signed.
  • Ability to respond to periods of high workload and project completion deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of MS Office (including Excel, Word).
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of the business supplies and services industry (Desirable)
  • CIPS Qualification (Desirable)
