Accounts Assistant/Bookkeeper

Location: NG4 2SG  

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with previous bookkeeping and credit control experience, who can work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills are essential for liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure the smooth operation of company accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

- Accurately enter all supplier invoices and receipts into Xero accounting software, ensuring correct account and VAT codes are used.

- Reconcile bank accounts in Xero against sales invoices and supplier bills.

- Send any ad hoc invoices to customers and collaborate with the sales team when onboarding new customers.

- Manage credit control to ensure customer accounts are paid on time and provide reports on debtors; email weekly statements and follow up on non-payments.

- Use specialised software to generate monthly accounting reports.

- Download and reconcile data from hub tills to match received payments.

- Manage accounts email inboxes.

The Successful Candidate Will:

- Have prior experience in a similar role.

- Be proficient with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero.

- Be familiar with HMRC requirements and processes.

- Be capable of working independently without supervision.

- Be a confident communicator, able to handle interactions with suppliers and customers independently.
