Finance Manager - About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting General Fund and Housing Revenue Account (HRA) budget planning and monitoring.
  • Coordinating the Council’s annual revenue budgets and financial reports.
  • Preparing and managing the final accounts and annual statements of accounts.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, codes of practice, and legislative requirements.
  • Developing effective relationships with auditors and implementing recommendations.
  • Advising stakeholders with financial reports, presentations, and briefings.
  • Managing VAT compliance and optimizing related costs.
  • Overseeing financial systems, implementing upgrades, and improving controls.
  • Leading on grants and project-related financial aspects.
  • Championing continuous service improvement and professional development of staff.

The successful Finance Manager will have:

  • Proven experience in financial management and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, VAT regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
