Finance Manager - About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting General Fund and Housing Revenue Account (HRA) budget planning and monitoring.
- Coordinating the Council’s annual revenue budgets and financial reports.
- Preparing and managing the final accounts and annual statements of accounts.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, codes of practice, and legislative requirements.
- Developing effective relationships with auditors and implementing recommendations.
- Advising stakeholders with financial reports, presentations, and briefings.
- Managing VAT compliance and optimizing related costs.
- Overseeing financial systems, implementing upgrades, and improving controls.
- Leading on grants and project-related financial aspects.
- Championing continuous service improvement and professional development of staff.
The successful Finance Manager will have:
- Proven experience in financial management and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, VAT regulations, and accounting standards.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
