- Collaborate with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive Dermatology service for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding areas, ensuring excellence in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment while maintaining the efficient operation of the department.
- Oversee the ongoing care and treatment of patients under your responsibility, personally performing clinical duties as outlined in your job plan, while appropriately delegating tasks and supporting the training of junior staff.
- Provide cover for consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave, ensuring patient care continuity and junior doctor supervision. (A minimum of six weeks' notice is required for all leave requests.)
- Fulfill any responsibilities related to a designated special interest.
- Supervise and manage junior medical staff, including teaching, examining, and accreditation duties. Contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education at local and national levels as appropriate.
- Participate in the Trust’s clinical governance framework, particularly within the Directorate, through involvement in clinical audits and research activities.
- Ensure adherence to the Trust’s Infection Control Policies and actively implement them within the department.
- Maintain compliance with personal continuing medical education (CME) requirements, with support from the Trust.
- Stay informed about professional guidelines, including Duties of a Doctor and GMC Performance Procedures, and act in accordance with them.
- Be prepared to undertake additional duties within the specified geographical areas or provide support at other hospitals in the event of a major incident or disaster.
- MRCP certification.
- Evidence of Dermatology Specialty Training or equivalent Registrar-level training required for Specialist Registration in the UK.
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
- Evidence of one of the following:
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register, OR
- Within six months of obtaining a CCT at the time of the interview, with expected entry onto the GMC Specialist Register by the start date, OR
- Confirmation that the GMC is processing the Specialist Registration application (must be provided before the interview).
- MBBS/MBChB or an equivalent medical qualification.
- Experience working in Dermatology Departments within the UK.
- Paediatric and surgical dermatology experience.
- Strong technical competence in general dermatology and skin surgery.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and share clinical responsibilities.
- Experience in audit management.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Experience in community dermatology clinics.
- Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
- Research experience.
- Published work in peer-reviewed journals.
