Job Title: General Manager

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic General Manager to oversee all aspects of sales and operations from our Nottingham depot. The Challenge:

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for driving growth and nurturing a talented team. You will oversee the profit and loss (P&L) for all depot operations, including used vehicle sales and an HGV workshop. Health and safety, as well as site overheads, are also part of your responsibilities, which include managing a feeder yard near the depot. Collaboration across all departments is key to success in this role, and your leadership will guide the team while maintaining a focus on high-performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive growth and achieve financial targets.
  • Be accountable for the depot's P&L.
  • Champion health and safety, promoting a healthy workplace and colleague well-being.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, enhancing the used vehicle brand in the retail environment.
  • Work towards achieving the goal of selling 80% of used vehicles through the retail channel.
  • Ensure the workshop is efficiently utilized.
  • Identify end-of-life vehicles from the existing fleet for defleeting and sale.
  • Manage budget and used vehicle sales targets.
  • Report to the Board on financial performance, operational efficiency, and growth progress.

To Succeed, You Will Need:

  • A proven track record in managing a depot with a focus on site maintenance and health and safety.
  • Commercial awareness and strong business judgment.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to maximize value and manage internal stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of the commercial vehicle (HGV) industry.
  • Creative thinking abilities to identify multiple options for success.
  • Effective management skills to provide feedback on industry trends and challenges.
  • An outcome-focused mindset, delivering the annual budget in line with key objectives.
  • Understanding of residual values in commercial assets.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop a relatively young team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Transport Management CPC qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Previous experience in a similar role.

This is a full-time role with hours from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break.
