We are seeking a Lead Economic Development Officer to join our Regeneration and Economic Development team at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

You will lead the delivery of the Borough’s Economic Development plan and marketing strategy, working across teams to address challenges and opportunities that support local business growth. This role involves monitoring trends, conducting research, and coordinating with stakeholders to advance the Borough's economic ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead on the preparation and delivery of the Economic Development policies and marketing strategy, liaise closely with other departments of the Council to ensure a consistency of approach on Economic Development issues.
  • Coordinate engagement with businesses and other relevant stakeholders though a range of mechanisms such as events, newsletters, online platforms etc.
  • Work with colleagues across the Council to highlight and progress issues supporting business and economic growth throughout the Borough
  • Actively research and monitor local, regional, national, and international trends that may impact the borough
  • Undertake statistical research and analysis on the socio-economic profile of the borough.
  • To provide briefings on policy, projects and performance against economic development aspirations and objectives to elected members, senior officials, and partner organisations.
  • To provide regular updates and analysis of customer feedback to inform service development
  • To ensure that due regard is given to all enquiries, service requests and complaints from local businesses, and elected members ensuring that any necessary action is actioned efficiently with relevant colleagues.
  • To provide effective communication to communities in the Borough in relation to local business initiatives and policy.
  • To submit business cases and liaise with key stakeholders.

The Person

  • Extensive experience of working in Economic Development or a related field.
  • Experience of working with external partners, businesses, and agencies.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g., Economic Development, Geography, Business, Politics) or substantial experience (at least 3 years) working in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of partnership working.
  • Understanding of the key economic challenges and opportunities facing sub-region area, particularly in Nuneaton
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate at all levels, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in writing complex reports, presentations, strategies, briefings and easy to understand summaries of complex information for members and senior officers
  • Able to handle sensitive, complex, and confidential information in a diplomatic and efficient manner.
  • Experience of business case development, including the creation of a broad, well evidenced research base and a cohesive compelling narrative to lead to optimum decision making.
