The right candidate will have the following

  1. QUALIFICATION : Either, CQSW, SW Degree, NVQ4 Residential Diploma 5. - Will need to show and evidence this
  2. Commitment to undertake Registered Manager's award.
  3. Registered with HCPC - where appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE

  1. Knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice in terms of procedures and their application.
  2. Knowledge and ability to ensure the provision of a high quality service delivery, accounting for young peoplesdiverse needs.
  3. Ability to communicate in community languages or non-verbally e.g. Makaton.

EXPERIENCE

  1. Substantial and current experience of working with service users with low self-esteem & challenging behaviour, inc. LAC.
  2. Experience of working in a residential setting for min. of 2 years in last five years.
  3. Experience of working with service users from a variety of heritages and backgrounds.
  4. Experience of staff/student supervision.

ABILITIES

  1. Ability to prioritise and organise own workant that of the team (including rotas), to set standards, work to clear objectives, showing a flexible approach to work, evaluating and revising plans as appropriate.
  2. Ability to manage change.
  3. Ability to support, manages, supervise, motivate and develop staff effectively, using a range of methods and techniques to ensure that tem meets agreed objectives.
  4. Ability to employ a variety of social workskills, knowledge and methods to achieve specific objectives, having a clear understanding of appropriate social work theories, knowledge of child development, leadership.
  5. Ability to investigate & analyse situations, identifying problems and their solutions weighing up risk factors within context of pressure and time constraints.
  6. Ability to understand, interpret and manage budgets.
  7. Ability to contribute to the development of the organisation and residential provision in the best interest of young people.

  1. Ability to work as part of the mentoring team and management team - working to achieve agreed objectives and providing developmental and emotional support to the team members and young people.
  2. Ability and resilience to manage conflict/challenging behaviours.
  3. Ability to form and maintain constructive working relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation, othercompanies, and demonstrating positive attitude to multi-agency working relationships.
  4. Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude to the contribution the organisation can bring to young people.
  5. Assertive and tenacity in holding to a strategic line.
  6. A commitment to working in partnership with young people, families and carers.
  7. A commitment to putting the needs of young people and their families first.
  8. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to own professional development and learning.

OTHER

  1. To visit locations other than the immediate workplace on a regular basis.
  2. To work outside "normal' office hours. Due to the needs of the organisation you will be expected to work outside core office hours as required which may include evening, weekends, bank holidays, waking night duty and sleep-ins.
  3. Expectation of participating in an on-call rota, which will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  4. Minimum age requirement of 23 (Care Standards Act 2000)
  5. Full UK Driving Licence.
