Junior Technical Designer

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 9am -5pm  

Our reputable Furniture Design Manufacturing client are currently looking for a Junior Technical designer to join their design team!  

Main Responsibilities of the Junior Technical Designer      

  • Technical design output as required, ensuring accurate and consistent fully detailed manufacturing specifications.
  • Provide full documentation control and communicate and issue to operations and sales teams.
  • Support the estimating process, working closely with the operations team.
  • Develop designs to meet criteria of budgets and objectives of the brief.
  • Manage workflow, and work within agreed project timelines to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate with design team and other stakeholders.
  • Research and integrate as appropriate new design, material and industry trends.

Experience and Skills required

  • An individual with the ability to transform creative retail display and interior concepts into well
  • considered engineered solutions for manufacture, utilising our design software (principally SolidWorks).
  • With a background in production of 3D manufacturing specifications, able to discern suitable materials and methods for optimum commercial and environmental impact.
  • Skills include material optimisation, production efficiency and design engineering for purpose.
  • Ability to detail to full manufacturing specification and provide full documentation control for QC purposes.
  • SolidWorks experience and ability is essential.
  • Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and fixing methods.
  • Ideally possesses a comprehensive ability and understanding of technical design requirements
  • for bespoke solutions.
  • Experience of working with joinery (timber and sheet materials), metal fabrication, finishing, plastics, glass, lighting, graphics, new materials and technologies.
