Long-term Teachers are working with a specialist Outdoor School in Plymouth who are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN LSA to join their dynamic team.

Located on the outskirts of Plymouth in a rural setting, the provision is focused on utilising the outdoors. They provide tailored support and education for children with a range of special educational needs. The school supports students from both primary and secondary age. They are committed to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can flourish and reach their full potential.

The school wants to make sure their employees feel valued and supported, therefore, regular traning will be provided

Position Details:

  • Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Plymouth, Devon
  • Contract: Full-time
  • Start Date: September
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Utilise the outdoors and the surrounding area to provide an engaging learning experinece
  • Support students with medical needs as required.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and respected.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Experinece and/or ambition to work outdoors.
  • Understanding of various special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, etc.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
