Are you an experienced Payroll & Pensions professional looking for an exciting opportunity? Our client is seeking a Payroll & Pensions Officer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic payroll function and support the administration of two pension schemes.

About the Role

The Payroll & Pensions Officer will play a key role in ensuring the accurate, efficient, and timely processing of monthly payroll while supporting the administration of pension funds. Additionally, you will provide full payroll services to another business in the group

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Administration:
  • Process new starters, leavers, and contractual changes using Zellis HR/Payroll System.

  • Administer payroll claims, including zero-hour timesheets, additional hours, and expense claims.

  • Ensure accurate calculation and processing of holiday entitlements.

  • Handle statutory and occupational sickness and parental leave entitlements.

  • Process Attachment of Earnings Orders, Court Orders, and HMRC tax code changes.

  • Assist in payroll quality assurance and reporting, ensuring compliance with deadlines and policies.

  • Provide Finance with payroll-related accruals and expenditure reports.

Pension Administration:
  • Enroll new starters into the correct pension scheme and contribution tier.

  • Process pension-related deductions and changes.

  • Submit monthly reports to third-party pension providers.

Employee Support:
  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll and pension-related queries.

  • Ensure staff have access to salary slips, P60s, and P45s where applicable.

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in payroll processing and pension administration.

  • Experience in the education sector

  • Knowledge of HMRC payroll regulations and pension schemes.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.

  • Proficiency in payroll/HR systems (Zellis experience preferred but not essential).

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
