Nursery Manager

Location: Longridge, Lancashire

Our client is a vibrant and nurturing early years setting, set in the pretty market town of Longridge, and are committed to providing high-quality care and education for children. They pride themselves on fostering a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that supports every child’s development and well-being.

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Nursery Manager to lead their dedicated team of 20 staff and 120 children on role and to maintain their exceptional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the nursery, ensuring the highest standards of care and education for children.

Your duties will include:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
  • Leading and inspiring a team of early years practitioners to deliver outstanding childcare.
  • Supporting staff development through regular supervision, training, and appraisals.
  • Working closely with the nursery owner and a named deputy to ensure alignment of goals and operational excellence.
  • Recruiting, inducting, and managing staff in line with policies and procedures, providing ongoing training and best care practices
  1. Operational Management:
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Ofsted standards.
  • Implementing and maintaining nursery policies and procedures.
  • Managing budgets, fees, and resources effectively.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and secure environment for children and staff.
  • Monitoring the condition of the facility and equipment and organising maintenance, repairs and new items as required in liaison with the owner

3. Childcare and Education:

Working closely and supporting current Room Leaders with:

  • Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a high-quality early years curriculum in each of the rooms
  • Ensuring that all activities are inclusive, stimulating, and tailored to the developmental needs of each child.
  • Supporting children’s individual progress through effective observation, assessment, and planning.

4. Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers to support children’s development.
  • Communicating effectively to ensure parents are informed about their child’s progress and the nursery’s activities.
  • Liaising with external agencies and community partners as necessary.

5. Collaboration with Leadership:

  • Working closely with the nursery owner to ensure shared vision and strategic objectives are met.
  • Collaborating with the named deputy to maintain seamless operations and provide support where needed.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years Education (Level 5 or above preferred).

• Proven experience in a leadership role within an early years setting.

• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted requirements.

• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

• A passion for delivering outstanding care and education to children.

• Current paediatric first aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
