Role Summary
The main purpose of the role is to support and deliver project work surrounding our Regulatory Change Portfolio. Helping to determine our data approach for Regulatory projects such as Pensions Dashboard and GMP Equalisation. Working closely with technical pensions administrators, project consultants and our actuarial team to develop a technical solution which tackles key challenges in these projects. You will ensure all project tasks are supported by adequate process notes and guidance. You will need to manage your own time to ensure effective delivery of project work and client service level agreements. Provide specialist skills to the team such as coding or technical pension support. Work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across the business to aide the development of technical solutions and processes utilising knowledge spanning across DB and DC pensions.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
- To manage and take accountability for complex projects by maintaining project plans, action logs, issues, and a risk registers. Client reports, meetings, and MS-Teams calls - prepare for, attend, create agendas, and record accurate minutes. Review and sign-off timesheet entries for projects you are responsible for.
- Good awareness and understanding of pension legislation and ability to produce accurate documentation of calculation methodology, decisions and assumptions and ensure Quality Assurance checks have been undertaken on completed work.
- Identify gaps in processes and suggest solutions.
- Be highly analytical: thrive in a creative but logical problem-solving environment.
- Function as a point of reference on complex, technical and legislative queries. Monitor, check and audit casework to ensure it is fit for purpose whilst identify training and development needs for the team. Providing ongoing training and coaching. Support Head of Delivery/Operations regarding project and team performance.
- Regularly innovate to improve unit times and/or accuracy of casework either by providing fresh solutions or building on existing solutions. Develop processes as required and consult with stakeholders following identified risks or gaps. Implement effective solutions for identified gaps in processes and procedures. Escalate relevant issues to stakeholders with proposed solutions.
- Develop effective working relationships with team colleagues, internal and external business contacts - consulting with other departments as required.
- Maintain data held on systems and provide management information as required.
Skills, Capabilities and Attributes
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:
- Self-motivated and ability to encourage others.
- Well-developed in systems proficiency particularly in Excel and Word including mail merge. Database experience would be an advantage.
- Ideally have a knowledge of GMP Equalisation and / or Pensions Dashboard and the challenges surrounding this on a data aspect.
- Ability to handle and analyse complex and high volumes of pension data.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Able to relate to people at all levels.
- Able to multitask under own initiative.
- Strong financial awareness.
- Understanding/experience of financial services in UK.
- Awareness of scheme rules, industry regulations and current/historic pensions legislation.
- Self-starter with the ability to encourage others.
- Must be flexible and pro-active.
- Able to work to laid down processes and procedures.
- Previous experience delivering UK defined benefit occupational pension scheme projects.
- AIA or AFA or APMI qualification desirable.
- Good awareness of project management methodologies.
- Able to problem solve and provide a project-based consultancy service to clients.
