Structured Cabling Estimator

Basic salary negotiable DOE

We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling Estimator to join an award-winning technology company. This full-time position focuses on estimating installation and material costs for various Structured Cabling and IT projects, including Copper Cabling, Fiber Optics, IT room build-outs, and Data Centre works.

In this role, you will be an integral part of the Structured Cabling Technical pre-sales team, collaborating closely with the internal IT team on Active IT proposals (such as Rack, Stack & Patch). This position is particularly well-suited for an experienced engineer looking to transition from hands-on work to a role in design and estimation, leveraging their installation expertise.

The Role:

  • Offer technical support to the sales team throughout the sales process, ensuring that designs are appropriate for their intended purpose and meet client requirements.
  • Provide basic concept drawings for quotes in collaboration with the internal CAD team.
  • Conduct estimating for all infrastructure projects, which will include client-facing site surveys across the UK and the EMEA region.
  • Develop detailed Scope of Works documents tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Attend site survey and scoping meetings, both in person and virtually.
  • Produce supporting documentation and precise technical drawings for projects that have been sold, working alongside the internal CAD team.
  • Assist the sales team during client meetings to clarify the client's technical requirements, help specify products, and provide ongoing support and design approval to the project teams after the internal handover.
  • Foster and maintain technical relationships with vendors and distributors for pricing and design assistance, while staying updated on product developments.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers for liaison and technical development.

The Person:

Prior experience in site surveys and strong report writing skills will be beneficial.

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of Structured Cabling systems, including but not limited to: Cat6, Cat6A, Fiber Optics, Telephony wiring, Data Cabinets, and containment systems
  • Familiarity with UPS and PDU specifications
  • Extensive experience with manufacturers, such as Excel, Panduit and Leviton
  • Current awareness of the marketplace and emerging technologies
  • An understanding of G-Suite software
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in commercial office environments in London or other major European cities

  • Hours 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Occasional short-term travel (1-3 days) to Europe for site surveys, project meetings, and other related activities.
