Based in Reading, this role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic department, manage a dedicated team, and drive operational excellence within a well-established law firm.The Role:Take Charge of a Thriving Conveyancing DepartmentAs the Head of Conveyancing, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring exceptional service delivery and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This position combines leadership, operational management, and hands-on conveyancing work, allowing you to make a significant impact.Key Responsibilities:Department Leadership: Manage and motivate teams, including fee earners, administrative staff, and operations support. Operational Excellence: Oversee performance management, administrative processes, and department operations to ensure goals align with the business plan. Performance Monitoring: Track individual and team performance against KPIs and SLAs, reporting progress and addressing issues promptly. Client Relationships: Maintain and strengthen relationships with referrers and business partners. Staff Development: Conduct 1-to-1s, performance reviews, appraisals, and on-the-job training. Compliance Management: Ensure all activities comply with CQS, SRA, and other statutory and regulatory frameworks. Process Improvement: Collaborate with senior management to enhance case management systems, workflows, and MI reporting. Caseload Management: Handle a personal caseload of client transactions while supporting the wider team. Team Collaboration: Participate in senior management strategy meetings and contribute to broader business objectives.What We're Looking For:To excel in this role, you'll bring:Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the conveyancing sector, with strong technical knowledge of freehold, leasehold, shared ownership, and other property transactions. Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing teams and driving performance. Operational Expertise: Experience in performance management, process analysis, and decision-making. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with SRA regulations, AML requirements, and compliance frameworks. Organisational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
