Permanent - Full Time (36.25 hours per week)

We are seeking a Finance Manager – Rents and Service Charges to join the Finance and Procurement Team on a permanent basis.

Working collaboratively as a trusted partner with business areas, you will lead on an effective rent and service charge service, providing insightful analysis and support, setting rents and service charges in line with statutory requirements and ensuring the best finance decisions can be made.

Key Areas of Work:

  • Leading the service charge improvement project.
  • Responsibility for developing the rents & service charge team under your management.
  • Rent and Service Charge (R&SC) Setting – preparation of the annual Rent Plan, including the calculation of rent increases and annual Service Charges.
  • Prepare Annual Rent and Service Charge Budgets.
  • Budget management and forecasting – accurate and timely reporting of income and expenditure and review of variances on a monthly basis.
  • Identification and calculation of service charges.
  • Timely input into relevant regulatory returns.
  • Put in place procedures and controls to ensure that all service chargeable expenditures is identified and robust costings are captured.

Who are we looking for?

  • Hold or actively studying towards a full accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of requirements of current Rents and Service Charge legislation, specifically the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 and 1988 respectively and Section 20’s Legislation.
  • Experience and understanding of productions or statutory financial statements and regulatory returns.
  • Experience in the use of financial systems.
  • Experience of preparation and monitoring of budgets.
  • Able to provide advice and support on financial issues to a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.

With excellent IT skills (such as Microsoft Office 365) and effective analytical and presentation skills, you will be experienced in leading on positive service improvements and will be committed to delivering a customer-focused approach. You will effectively manage and monitor objectives and performances whilst providing a supportive environment that promotes employee wellbeing.
