Twenty4Seven Education is seeking multiple caring, organised, resilient and dependable Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistants (SEND TAs) for supportive Special Schools to start January 2025.

Special Schools in Gillingham and Rochester need understanding and adaptable SEND TAs to join their dedicated teaching staff to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs.   

Due to these additional needs, children may need support in communication through aids like sign language, pictures, symbols etc. They may need assistance managing their challenging behaviour and require you to attend to their personal care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person to ensure pupils’ wellbeing
  • Be aware of and support differences to ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
  • Implement behaviour management programmes for to ensure pupils’ wellbeing, health, safety and learning needs are met
  • Demonstrate good communication skills when informing, persuading, inspiring and motivating pupils and providing feedback to other professionals and parents/carers as required
  • Ensure the maintenance of a clean, orderly and safe working environment ensuring that equipment/resources/materials are set out on time and as per instructions and used safely to enable pupils to meet their learning targets
  • Provide admin support (e.g. typing, photocopying, display etc.)
  • Complete records for pupils learning, behaviour  management, child protection etc. as directed

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Satisfactory references covering the last 2 years
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child & Adult) on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process)
  • GCSE English and Mathematics to Grade C+ (or equivalent) is essential
  • Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable 
  • Experience working with children with SEND within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience)
  • Good Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills
