Salary: 28,600 + 25% shift allowance on the afternoon shift

Hours: Mon-Thurs 06:00-14:00, Friday 05:00-13:00

Mon-Thurs 14:00-22:00, Friday 13:00-21:00

Nicholas Associates have an excellent opportunity for an NDT Operative (DPI/FPI) to be based in Sheffield. Our client provides expertise in casting and manufacturing capabilities. This includes computer process modelling, design for casting manufacture, rapid low-volume manufacture of precision castings and casting process and materials research, for aerospace and other high-value manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visual inspection of castings by direct observation and use of visual aids including mirrors and video scopes to detect surface defects
  • Non-destructive examination using fluorescent and colour contrast dye penetrant to reveal surface flaws
  • Preparing castings for inspection using various cleaning methods ensuring suitability for effective inspection
  • Routine control checks to validate the inspection process and verify equipment calibrations.
  • Process castings through penetrant application and removal process
  • Assist in clearing excavations using penetrant inspection during the upgrade and repair process
  • Keeping computerised inspection records and archiving paper records
  • Evaluate the results and male accept / rejection decisions based on customer acceptance criteria
  • Interpret specification and assist in production of NDT techniques for level III approval
  • Assist in audits and ensure continued compliance with the company's NDT accreditations e.g. NADCAP and UKAS
