Position Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated Family Support Worker to support families in meeting their needs within a safe residential or community setting. This role involves promoting positive family relationships, ensuring childrens well-being, and fostering essential life skills for parents. You will work within a supportive, collaborative team to deliver high-quality, consistent care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with Social Workers, Police, Legal Services, Education, and Health professionals to help families meet placement plan targets.
  2. Encourage life skills and parenting behaviours that support personal growth, offering feedback based on observations.
  3. Demonstrate positive behaviour management in line with best practices.
  4. Maintain accurate records of family progress to aid in effective planning.
  5. Safeguard children in the family centre at all times.
  6. Promote healthy parental relationships within professional boundaries.
  7. Work on a 24-hour shift pattern, covering weekends and bank holidays.
  8. Conduct parenting sessions and support family attendance at appointments.
  9. Facilitate family contact with friends and relatives.
  10. Transport families to appointments as needed (business insurance on personal vehicle required).
  11. Confidently address challenging behaviours, ensuring safety in the centre.
  12. Collaborate closely with team leaders and social workers, following guidance to meet family needs.
  13. Attend training, supervision, and team meetings regularly.
  14. Contribute to family progress reports and centre meetings.
  15. Perform additional duties as required, including tasks such as cooking and cleaning.
Personal Specification
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in family support work (required)
  • Skills: Effective communicator, resilient, adaptable, non-judgmental, team-oriented, self-motivated
  • Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (desirable but not essential, with training available)
  • Requirements: DBS (preferred), IT literate, flexible, reliable commute
  • Other: Car drivers preferred
