One of London's most prestigious independent schools, globally recognised for its offering, is seeking an experienced and intuitive Finance Director for a period of c. 6 months while they make a permanent appointment. The post-holder will provide strong financial leadership to the finance team and will begin by leading on a complex VAT project followed by the budgeting process for the group.

As the FD, you will be responsible for;

  • Leading the finance team to deliver an efficient and reliable finance function
  • Ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements for charity/education
  • Supporting the Bursar in delivering next year's budget
  • Work closely with the Director of Property and IT to support capital planning
  • Analysing and presenting financial information to Bursar and Governors to aid decision making
  • Overseeing the provision of reports, returns and management information as required
  • Managing external relationships with bankers, auditors and investment advisors
  • Owing the finance data, ensuring copies are stored in line with policy

The ideal candidate will;

  • Have at least one year's experience in the lead finance role ideally with a school/charity
  • Have proven experience in leading and motivating teams through periods of change
  • Have strong technical accounting knowledge from either education/charity
  • Be able to move easily between strategic and operational levels and communicate effectively at all levels with a variety of stakeholders.
