Join us now for the opportunity to make a difference in the local community whilst enhancing the lives of young people with a variety of complex needs.Here at Hays we work closely with a number of Primary schools in supporting their young people identified as having additional learning or complex needs. Through our strong working relationships with our partner schools, we are able to bring a variety of opportunities to our staff, and are looking to appoint a number of experienced SEN Teaching Assistants for upcoming roles.The RoleThe role of an SEN Teaching Assistant is a varied one, with duties including;

  • Supporting young people on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with EHCPs
  • Providing support to the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons, adapting delivery to suit the needs of the students
  • Smaller focus group activities to assist students in their development
  • Promoting an inclusive learning environment, modelling the ideal behaviours
  • Preparing classroom resources
  • Assisting with extra-curricular activities and school trips

About YouThe ideal candidates for these roles would:

  • Have relevant experience of a minimum of 20 days in the last two years within a classroom
  • Hold a recognised teaching assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Have experience supporting young people identified as having additional needs
  • Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and dedication to their role
  • Possess key soft skills such as empathy, compassion, patience and passion for education
  • Hold a DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one
