Key Responsibilities

  • Individualised Learning: Develop and implement personalised education plans to cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth.
  • Specialised Teaching: Employ various teaching strategies and interventions tailored to students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Difficulties, Dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Monitor student progress, assess their needs, and provide detailed reports to parents, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, other educators, and external specialists to provide holistic support to students.
  • Parent and Guardian Engagement: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and strategies for supporting learning at home.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in SEND education through continuous professional development.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience: Proven experience in teaching students with special educational needs and disabilities, with a track record of success in various SEND settings.
  • Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS) and a specialisation or significant experience in SEND.
  • Passion for SEND: A deep commitment to improving the learning journeys of students with special needs, showing warmth, care, and patience in all interactions.
  • Adaptability and Innovation: Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs and to innovate in lesson planning and delivery.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong skills in communicating effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures, with all candidates subject to an enhanced DBS check.
