Joining a dynamic family-owned business, as the No 1 in Finance, you will be strategically responsible for developing & overseeing the entire finance function, implementing policies & procedures, along with managing a team of 2.

Also business partnering with the other departments & presenting to the board to drive business performance & growth.

Job Title: Interim Finance Director

Location: Shrewsbury

Remuneration: 80,000 - 90,000 per annum

Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract, 12 months

Responsibilities:

  • Take on the number one finance role, overseeing all areas of Finance including financial reporting and forecasting, compliance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cashflow management.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Managing Director, ensuring operational efficiency and supporting business strategy.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and forecasts accurately and on time.
  • Develop and implement the annual budget to drive improved profitability.
  • Collaborate with external accountants to ensure accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Present monthly financial reports to the Board, providing insightful recommendations to drive business performance.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis, performance evaluations, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity, optimising working capital levels.
  • Oversee the stock take process and establish policies for stock depreciation and write down.
  • Identify and evaluate financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance or similar role in a manufacturing, engineering, or construction-related industry.
  • Project accounting experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
